spooky tree

I also took this picture in Key West on a ghost tour I went on with my family which in my opinion seemed totally bogus... maybe it was just me.  This picture is of a special trees whos roots grow down from the branches.  I just thought it was pretty! hope you enjoy!

Key West

I took this picture over Thanksgiving break when i was in Key West.  This was the number one place to see the sunset in all of Key west.  I think pictures cannot do the sunset justice, but i tried to capture the beauty as best i could. I hope you enjoy this picture, it sure makes me want to be at the beach!
This picture is not great quality, but it has a story.  I took this picture ant my dads annual Labor Day "Butler BBQ Bash" at our lake house.  Our lakehouse is in the middle of the woods on Lake Hartwell.  This Labor day I was sitting in a chair by the fire thinking how lucky I am to see the beauty God has created, in its natural setting.  To me this picture looks rather peaceful, which is odd considering this party was a wild time with roughly 100 friends and family members present.  I hope you enjoy this picture, and my little piece of memory!

Art of Fall

This is a picture i took for my photography class.
You may ask why i had a "y" bead in the middle of the leaf, but the assignment was to take something you have and make it the focal point of the picture.  I thought the leaf was pretty, and the contrast of the leaf, bead, and mulch was interesting.  i used iphoto to edit this picture, where i did minimal editing besides enhancing the photo.

"Entertaining" Cruise Ship

After reading an article on http://www.cruiseserver.net/travelpage/news/c_news.asp I read about the cruise ship called Allure of the Seas. They are now called the entertaining cruise ship because they have named fiona from the Dreamworks movie " Shrek" their Godmother.  Allure of the seas is the worlds largest cruise ship.  I feel like this would be a very exciting ship to visit, especially because i love cruises!

Technology in Society Today

Initially I was intrigued when I saw the article: “ How Steve Jobs Stole Christmas
- -Apple Products Top Of Every Kid’s Wish List”. I automatically assumed the article would be referring to the increase of Apple products on children’s wish lists.  While this may be the case, as I read closer I soon discovered that the amount of children surveyed for this article was a very small number of people out of a very large population.  This made me think about how attracted we are as a society, to the title of things---the big headlines that grab our attention.  And hey! If they are catchy we tend to “read on.”   The way the information was portrayed was definitely tilted, due to the fact that when I read this article, it felt like I was reading an article based on a survey of a larger amount of people.  And  did you notice that the headline stated that Apple products were att the  top of every kid’s wish list?  This is misleading advertising!  http://www.fastcompany.com/1697645/how-steve-jobs-stole-christmas-apple-products-top-of-every-kids-wish-list
Even though this article surveyed a small sample size, it did raise the question of the influence of technology on our daily lives.  Younger and younger children are utilizing the technology that was not even conceived of a few years ago.  Connections across time and space are made regularly now through texting, video conferencing, virtual chat rooms and support groups.  It occurs to me that while technology can certainly cause many problems such as increased incidence of motor vehicle accidents while texting during driving, it is not the technology itself that is the problem.  Technology is not inherently bad, rather our relationship with the technology poses the problem.  After reading this article I began to examine my own relationship with technology and I realized the huge impact it has had.  My cell phone is always, and I mean always easily accessed when I want it to be.  And I am spending more and more time communicating via facebook and texting than I am with one on one in person conversations.  Take a second and evaluate the impact technology has had on your life, it might surprise you.    http://passioncomputing.com.au/articles/the-social-impact-of-technology.aspx

"ancient or modern?"

You may think I've posted enough pictures of Paris, and I promise you I'm almost done.... maybe.  But this picture was taken at the world famous Louvre.  The awkward looking pyramid in the front of the Louvre is something the French decided to add, more recently. In my opinion the look tacky and unnecessary. What do you think?  http://piknik.com/ is a fast, free, and simple way to edit your photos.  This website is where I normally go to edit my photos.
